Homemade Fresh Strawberry Sauce

Strawberry sauce takes your waffles from delicious to decadent. The best part? It’s ridiculously easy to make. You only need three main ingredients and about 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of strawberries - fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Cook the strawberries: In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  • Simmer: Stir occasionally and let the mixture simmer until the strawberries break down and the sauce thickens slightly, about 8–10 minutes. If using frozen strawberries, expect a bit more liquid; simmering will help reduce it.
  • Blend (optional): For a smoother sauce, blend the mixture using a hand blender. If you prefer a chunkier texture, skip this step.
  • Cool slightly: Let the sauce cool for a few minutes before pouring it over your waffles.
